SWEET WHITE ARE SHOWING NO SIGNS OF TIRING AS THEY RELEASE THEIR NEW SINGLE ‘MY GIRL’. READ OUR REVIEW BELOW.
SWEET White have had a very busy year, releasing several singles and building on their sound has lead to them gaining even more popularity.
‘My Girl’ is the latest in their wave of singles and it shows that Sweet White are continuously evolving themselves as a band.
Long drawn out guitar notes screech out in the tracks intro, the drum beat controls the verses, it’s tight and allows the vocals to stand out.
The use of layered vocals as the words “It’s so, out of the blue, out of the blue…” ring out, creates an instant, catchy sing-a-long moment. The guitar wails continue to cry out at various parts of the track and the keyboard creates yet another new element for Sweet White.
Speaking about the meaning of the track, Sweet White said: “In all honesty, the track doesn’t really have much of a message at all, it’s just a fun track.
“We’ve had people interpret the lyrics in different ways already so whatever you take from it, that’s your message!”
The ability to create a song that people can interpret for themselves, means that Sweet White have created something not only personal to them, but personal to their audience.
When speaking about the influences on the track, drummer Shaun Wilson said: “Since Corrin’s joined the band on keys, it’s opened up a whole new dynamic so our sound is a little more synth-based and that’s probably what to expect from new Sweet White in the future.”
But, exactly what can fans expect from Sweet White in the future? When asked about their next venture the band said: “We aren’t 100% set on what the next move is. The plan was originally to release as many single as we can this year but we have some new material we might want to put into an EP, so we’re still undecided at the minute but definitely a lot more to come this year.”
So fans can expect more music from this band in the next few months.
“My Girl” also comes with its very own B-side titled; “Someone”. An honest track that shows raw emotion. It’s lyrically beautiful and strips back this jangly, upbeat sound that Sweet White have showcased over their recent releases.
